Canal+ Group will return to encrypted broadcasts its pay TV channels Canal+, Canal+ Sport, Canal+ Cinéma, Canal+ Séries and Canal+ Family.
It will have to do so by March 31 at the latest, following orders from media regulator CSA.
CSA has adopted such a decision after receiving complaints from the French commercial channels TF1 and M6, accusing Canal+ of unfair competition.
The company had announced that all clients of the French platform would have full access to all the films, series, youth packages and documentaries during the Covid-19 crisis and the French blockade.
This “opening” of Canal+ is visible to subscribers with decoders of the pioneering payment platform in Europe.
However, the Canal+ signal by DTT is still encrypted.
Orange and SFR also take similar steps
Orange has also announced that its children’s channels are available to all its television subscribers, while SFR has increased the content in its packages for the smallest of the house and entertainment for all landline subscribers.
